Palak paneer is a popular Indian vegetarian dish originating from the Indian sub continent. It consists of paneer in a thick paste made from pureed spinach. Palak is healthy and easy to make. It is rich in iron, vitamin A, vitamin C, Calcium. This amazing combination of palak with paneer, is a smooth, creamy and delicious gravy. Try it and you will love its taste.

INGREDIENTS

Spinach (Palak) - 1 kg
Ghee - 50 gm
Cumin Seeds - 1 spoon
Garlic - 20 pieces (chopped into small pieces)
Green Chilli - 2
Salt
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1/2 spoon
Tomato - 1
Onion - 1
Cumin Powder - 1 spoon
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 spoon
Chilli Powder - 1 spoon
Cooking Oil - 50 ml
Sugar - 1/2 spoon
Fresh Cream - 2 spoon
Butter - 2 spoon
Kasuri Methi (Dried Fenugreek Leaves) - 1/2 spoon
Paneer - 250 gm
Water

RECIPE STEPS

STEP 1

Boil palak in a vessel with half spoon of sugar for 5 minutes. (Rinse and use only the leaves of palak). Best to use tender palak.

STEP 2

Drain the water, add cold water to the palak so that it regains its colour. Blend the palak with a mixer grinder and make it into a paste.

STEP 3

Heat a pan with three spoons of ghee. Add cumin seeds when they begin to splutter, add finally chopped garlic. Fry garlic till they are like brown. Next add green chilli, onion and fry till they turn transparent.

STEP 4

Add ginger garlic paste, tomatoes and sprinkle salt. Fry till they turn mushy. Now mix well turmeric powder, chilli powder, cumin powder, kasuri methi for 1 minute.

STEP 5

Add 1/2 cup of water, palak paste, salt. Simmer the flame and cook until it begins to bubble for 5 minutes. Avoid over cooking.

STEP 6

Add paneer (cut into small cubes) to the palak paste and mix well.

STEP 7

Cook until the paneer becomes soft. They gravy should be cooked as a thick consistency.

STEP 8

Finally add butter, fresh cream to the gravy and off the stove within five minutes. Serve palak paneer hot with chappati, naan, roti or rice.
