Step 1

Wash the brinjal and cut it as shown in the picture.

Step 2

Cut the onion and tomato into small pieces.

Step 3

Take a kadhai, add oil and heat it. Now add mustard, urad dhal, fennel seeds, curry leaves and allow it to burst a little, then add onion and fry to golden brown. Now add tomato and a little salt so that the tomato will become soft soon.

Step 4

Now add danya powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and fry for 2 minutes. Now add the brinjal to it and fry for 3 minutes.

Step 5

Add required quantity of water (brinjal should be submerged) and add salt for taste.

Step 6

Mix it well and close the kadhai with the lid and allow it to boil with low flame for 20 minutes.

Step 7

Remove the lid and see if the brinjal has become soft. Be careful that the brinjal should not split into pieces.

Step 8

You can off the stove when the contents have become little thick.

Step 9

Now transfer the Kulambu into a bowl and add coriander leaves. Brinjal Kulambu will go well with rice.

Onion - 2

Tomato - 3

Danya powder - 3 table spoon

Cumin powder - 4 table spoon

Red chilli powder - 1/4 spoon

Turmeric powder - 1/2 spoon

Fennel seeds - 1/4 spoon


Curry leaves, coriander leaves

Oil - 4 table spoon

Mustard, urad dhal 1/4 spoon
